The Climate Impacts Group works with faculty and students across a range of disciplines.

These interactions at the University of Washington and other academic institutions are central to meeting existing and emerging science needs, and to advancing knowledge in the fields of climate impacts and adaptation science. Examples include:

  • Connecting UW scholars with opportunities to make a different kind of difference – simultaneously pursuing development of new knowledge and building regional climate resilience;
  • Providing students and postdocs opportunities to engage with a diverse group of external stakeholders;
  • Providing researchers at all levels with opportunities to contribute disciplinary expertise to interdisciplinary teams addressing real and challenging problems in complex environments;
  • Organizing and co-hosting seminars and guest lectures focused on the intersection of knowledge generation and application;
  • Teaching and guest lectures for classes and seminars; and
  • Assisting in the development of interdisciplinary, decision-relevant research and stakeholder engagement programs.

Expertise within our core staff and our growing affiliated network of scientists and technical experts includes climate dynamics, climate and hydrologic modeling, ecosystems modeling, impacts and vulnerability assessment, adaptation planning, and climate communications and outreach.
