Bio

Katie is an Education and Evaluation Specialist at the Washington State Climate Office. Her background is in climate education, engagement, and communication, and she is passionate about increasing climate literacy for everyone. Katie has been doing weather and climate engagement for over 20 years, and education research and evaluation for over 10 years. She has worked with formal educators, in informal education environments such as museums, and with communities through libraries and community organizations. She has engaged in collaborative and co-creative processes to develop and implement projects, as well as to better understand the impacts of educational programs and scientific research initiatives. 

Katie earned her BS from the University of Washington and her MS from Colorado State University (CSU), both in Atmospheric Science. She then completed an interdisciplinary degree program with a focus on science education research, receiving a second MS in Ecology and Education from CSU. When she’s not focused on climate engagement she loves to spend time with her family, get outdoors, read, and do puzzles.
