The UW Climate Impacts Group hosts the federally-funded climate adaptation program – the Northwest Climate Adaptation Center, funded by the Department of the Interior. The Climate Impacts Group also hosts the Washington State Climate Office and acts as a hub for scientific and technical support for climate resilience in Washington state.

Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center

The Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center is a federal-university partnership with leadership from the U.S. Geological Survey as well as a consortium of universities across the Northwest. The mission of the Adaptation Science Center is to deliver science to help fish, wildlife, water, land and people adapt to a changing climate.

Washington Tribes Coastal Resilience Program

The Washington Tribes Coastal Resilience Program supports federally recognized Tribes on the Washington coast in responding to the impacts of climate change. The program aims to reduce barriers to climate adaptation by providing flexible funding and technical assistance to Tribes along Washington’s Pacific coast, Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Puget Sound. Guided by Tribal input and emphasizing Tribal sovereignty and Indigenous knowledges, the program seeks to strengthen community-driven resilience efforts supporting coastal Tribal communities.
